About Louisiana Association of Student Nurses (LASN)

The Mission of LASN

Our mission is to promote the health and well-being of all people by preparing future leaders and scholars in the health sciences. Louisiana Association of Student Nurses is a statewide community enabling the transition of the student to professional nursing through leadership, education, mentorship, and stewardship.

The purpose of the LASN is:

To assume responsibility for contributing to nursing education to provide the highest
quality health care.
To provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interests
and concerns.
To aid in the development of the nursing student, their professional role, and their
responsibility for the health care of all populations of people.

The function of the LASN shall include the following:

To have direct input into standards of nursing education and the educational process.
To influence health care, nursing education, and nursing practice through legislative
activities, as appropriate.
To promote and encourage participation in community affairs and activities that will
improve health care outcomes.
To represent nursing students to the consumer, to institutions, and other
organizations.
To promote and encourage students' participation in interdisciplinary activities.
To promote and encourage recruitment efforts, participation in student activities and
educational opportunities regardless of the person's race, color, creed, sex, age,
lifestyle, health status, national origin, or economic status.
To promote and encourage collaborative relationships with the Louisiana State Nurses Association (LSNA), the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA), the American Nurses Association (ANA), the National League for Nursing (NLN), the International Council of Nurses (ICN), as well as other nursing and related health organizations.
