LSNA Formal Mentorship Program
The Louisiana State Nurses Association (LSNA) Formal Mentoring Program is established with the primary purpose of fostering professional growth, collaboration, and support among LSNA members. This program aims to create a dynamic and enriching environment where experienced nurses can share their knowledge, insights, and skills with emerging nursing professionals. By cultivating meaningful mentor-mentee relationships, the LSNA Formal Mentoring Program seeks to enhance the overall competence, confidence, and job satisfaction of nursing professionals across all levels of experience.
Mentor Requirements
- Member of LSNA or another ANA state association
- A registered nurse for at least 3 years
- Display a commitment to the mentoring relationship, including regular meetings and ongoing communication with the mentee.

Mentee Requirements
- Member of LSNA
- Clearly define and articulate professional goals and objectives that they aim to achieve through the mentorship.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to their own professional development, actively engaging in the mentorship process.
- Be receptive to constructive feedback and willing to make adjustments to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Come prepared to mentoring sessions with questions, topics, or challenges they would like to discuss or seek guidance on.
- Take initiative in driving the mentorship relationship, actively seeking guidance and utilizing the mentor's expertise.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions with the mentor and within the nursing community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to follow through on action items and goals established during mentorship sessions.
- Recognize and respect the mentor's time, being punctual and prepared for scheduled meetings.
